Finding Balance in 2022.

I usually keep my goals to myself when it come to the new year resolutions because, let’s be honest, not many stick to them. However, this is one that I thought I should share with y’all.

Balance.

Whether it’s work/life, mental health/social life, business/financial, we all struggle to balance in our lives. It’s a constant battle. There’s so much we need to do and even more that we want to do. How can I do it all? Well, the simple answer is, I can’t.

My goal this year has been, and continues to be to find balance. My biggest challenge is between work, business and social. I work a full time job, I do my photo/video stuff on the side and I love being social and active with friends and family. Sometimes I get overwhelmed because there’s just so much to juggle.

In order to find a way to balance everything, I’ve started listening to podcasts that are both motivating, and encouraging. Yes, those are very similar, but they are not the same thing. Well, at least not to me. The way I perceive encouragement is like Cheerleaders. They are on the sidelines cheering you on and hoping you succeed. Motivation is more like the coaches. They give you all the plays, knowledge and mindset that make you work harder and succeed. These two attributes are imperative to everything that I take in. I require them in a big portion of the content I consume.

When I consume content that contains motivation and encouragement, I find myself shifting mindsets and cheering myself on. When I cheer myself on, I begin to focus and lose myself in whatever I’m working on. This forces me into balance. For the duration of a 45-60 minute podcast, I’m focused on work or business. When that 45-60 minutes is over, I then allow myself to indulge in my social life or active time.

I’ve only been using this method for about 2 weeks and right now, it works. Sometimes it takes a little more effort than other times, but I am still able to focus and balance parts of my life. This method may not work for everyone and sounds super chaotic, but my point to this is that balance is different for everyone and managing it is vital to be productive.

If you struggle with balance, know that you aren’t alone. You never will be. It’s a lifelong battle that so many people struggle with. Try finding methods for balancing your time. Pinterest has a lot of great resources to start you off.

Do you have a favorite podcast that you listen to? If so, drop it down in the comments so I can give it a listen!
